Cheap Used Cars For Sale: What To Consider When Buying Used Cars

Financially speaking, buying a new vehicle can be a big problem, due to the ever depreciating value of the automotive industry coupled with the global financial woes we currently experience; it is no surprise that many have gravitated towards purchasing used cars for sale. Now, I dont in any manner condemn the act and in fact highly encourage it especially for those who are still starting out in life independently. With that said, there are some things that one should take into consideration which can prevent first timer woes when buying cheap used cars for sale.

Exterior

Now, the first thing to consider is the exterior part of the used car. Is the paint damaged and can it be easily replaced/repaired? Do the fenders or doors indicate previous damage? Do the handles come off easily? Is there any rust inside and outside of the cars exterior? Are there any fluids coming out of the car when you start it? Do note that black fluids can indicate that the car is leaking oil which is a bad thing; green liquid on the other hand indicates that the anti-freeze in the car is damaged and pink colored liquid indicates that there is a problem with the transmission line. A stuck steering wheel can also be a problem so move it from left to right and feel for yourself if it is comfortable or manageable.

Interior

After doing a thorough inspection of the outside part, the next thing is to investigate the interior part of the car. Check that the mileage is the same and consistent with the cars year model. Check for any damages such as frayed seats, obnoxious smells, damages in the ignition or steering wheel as well as the hood and other parts of the car. Test drive the car to check for any other unnecessary sounds or problems.

Miscellaneous

The hidden problems of a vehicle can really pose a problem especially for first timers. If you cannot see it, then it is not a problem right? Well, that is definitely wrong; it can be a problem, a huge one in fact. The first thing to do is to check the VIN of the car. The VIN or the Vehicle Identification Number uniquely identifies a car model. Information you can get from the VIN includes the country that manufactured the car, the car maker, the date and place where it was assembled as well as the production number. After checking the VIN, you can also request for a car history report which is usually available from the car dealer. It shows the cars previous owners, services made on the car and any accidents that have occurred involving the car.
